1What stays on your device

Stride stores your learning space in your browser’s local storage: the optional name, subject, goal and colour you choose, your starting checks, progress, streak, focus timer, saved code drafts, and small preferences such as when it last reminded you to back up. Stride sets no cookies.

Because nothing is stored on an account, clearing your browser data removes it. A progress code or sync brings it back. A progress code is a copy of your data, so keep it as private as the data itself.

2Pip’s AI help and chat

When you send a message in Chat with Pip, or ask for help in a lesson or the Playground, Stride sends the following to its own server, which passes it to an AI provider (Groq) to write the reply:

Conversations are not saved by Stride and disappear when you leave or refresh the page. The AI provider processes the request under its own terms and privacy policy. Please don’t type passwords, personal details about other people, or anything you would not want processed this way.

Pip is an AI. It can be wrong, so check important facts and treat its answers as a study aid. If the AI service is unavailable, Pip falls back to built-in hints that send nothing anywhere.

3Running code

Code in the Playground and in code projects runs on the public Wandbox service (wandbox.org), not on Stride’s servers. Your code and any program input are sent there only when you press Run, and Stride asks Wandbox not to keep a shareable copy. Wandbox applies its own limits and terms. Never include secrets or personal information in code you run.

4Sync between devices

If you turn on sync, Stride creates a random code on your device. Your progress is encrypted in your browser with a key derived from that code, and only the encrypted data is stored, in an Upstash Redis database reached through Stride’s server. The code itself, and the key, never leave your device, so Stride cannot read what is stored.

5Hosting and technical logs

Stride is hosted on Vercel. Like most hosts, Vercel and the services above may process technical information such as your IP address, browser type and request times to deliver the site and keep it secure. Stride briefly uses your IP address in memory to limit abuse of Pip’s chat and sync, and does not use it to identify you.

6Learning content

Stride is an educational tool. Its lessons, projects and Pip’s answers are for general learning and are provided as they are, without promises that they are complete, current or error-free. Finishing topics does not certify skills, qualifications or readiness for a job or exam, and nothing here is professional, financial, medical or legal advice.

7Using Stride

To the extent the law allows, Stride is provided without warranties, and its maker is not liable for losses arising from its use, including lost progress. Nothing here limits rights you have that cannot be limited by law.
